Rappers and Incarceration

From its conception, Rap music was about telling a story and creating vivid images of things that one wished to acquire. I have been a fan since the late eighties. When I became a fan, it was during the time of the Self-destruction era. The rappers of that day spoke of empowerment, and tasteful fantasies.

Fast forward, twenty years and it seems as if a great percentage of rapper artist have, or will be facing Incarceration. In the beginning of this week, Rapper Gucci Mane was praised as the break through artist of 2009. Much anticipation and emphasis has been placed on his album due out December 8th, 2009. However, that has now been placed in jeopardy due to his recent incarceration.

Thursday of this past week it was announced that Gucci Mane was place into custody and lead away from the Court room after a probation violation. Now, to the average person who is not a rap fan this is run of the mill news. It is labeled as black man goes to jail for not following the rules. I must say that it was kind of disappointing news to hear myself. Although, I am not a direct fan of Gucci Mane’s music; there is no way to avoid hearing him on the tracks of my favorite artist! This summer along side, Mario and Sean Garrett, he took over the 106 & Park Countdown with the hit smash “Break-up” as well as Mariah Carey’s “Obsessed” Remix. Not to mention, his most recent single, “Wasted”. Now the sad part is that he was sentenced to (12) months in jail for failing to pass urinalysis. Some would say, how could you fail a drug test with so much on the line? At this point we will never know… However, his career is on hold for at least the next (6) months.

Gucci Mane’s case maybe an isolated issue; however, it is not an uncommon situation. T.I. currently is incarcerated for pleading guilty to possessing illegal machine guns and silencers as a convicted felon. Last month Shyne (known as Moses Michael Leviy now) was released from doing 9 years of a 10 year sentence. Shyne’s release was bitter sweet. Many of his supporters were glad to hear he was finally released from prison, only to learn he was deported to his native country of Belize.* Earlier this year, C-Murder was sentenced to life in prison during his appeal trial in the shooting death of a (16) year old in a night club shooting. ** Recently, Lil’ Boosie was just violated for failing to adhere to the terms of his probation for drug and gun charges. He was sentenced to (4) years. This Month, B.G. was arrested again on gun charges. And, Lil’ Wayne just copped to a plea deal on a gun charge, and is facing (12) months in jail.

There has even been a rash of female rappers who have been on the list of incarcerated artists. In 2005, Lil’ Kim was sentenced to 366 days in federal prison for perjury charges. Foxy Brown was sentenced to a year in jail for a probation violation as well as other incidents, in 2007. The following year Remy Ma was sentenced to an eight year sentence for shooting her a friend over a money matter and Da Brat was sentenced to three years for aggravated assault.

As they say, “Sex sells”, I guess incarceration does as well, too! Many of the Artist named in this article have or had successful careers and notoriety that so many young Artist crave. But, what’s the cost? Is losing your freedom worth having the notch on your belt as “you did a bid”? Even though all of the circumstances surrounding each artist’s incarceration were different, it still makes it hard on the millions of fans who love their music and the children who look up to them. Hopefully, the future generations of rap artist don’t feel that jail is the way to go in order to sell albums. There is nothing exciting about being told when you can do things simple as eat, go to the bathroom and shower, not to mention your celebrity status is on hold. In jail everyone has a number, not a name. Being hard and gangsta on wax is entertaining, but like my man B.I.G. said, [there is someone always] ”Ready to Die”; especially, when in a crab in the bucket atmosphere like being incarcerated. Jail is not the place to be and as more and more rappers go to jail, my final thought is who wants to go to jail just to see their favorite artist!

*Shyne is currently fighting his extradition from Belize. He is trying to return to the States.

**C-Murder has recently asked the Court to declare him indigent, in order her him to gain a new trial.

Colors... Don't you like them!

Eventually, hopefully I will get some thing customized but for now I tried to pick out something that was very metro sexual! Hopefully, my blog will draw an audience for a male and female audience.

Enjoy, and please leave suggestions as necessary.

The origin of Mrs. Make It Happen

About 2 years ago, I moved to Queens, New York on a whim.  I was working at a job, which was less desirable and I would always get the task(s) done no matter what!  The supervisor would refer to me, as Mrs. Make It Happen!  I would laugh and be honored that someone thought so highly of me that I could be dependable, reliable, and just about flawless.

As I really reflected on the title, "Mrs. Make It Happen", I realized that was something that fit my personality.  No matter what job, title and/or task that God put in front on me, I always was able to make it happen.  I am proud of that fact, and it has truly been a blessing.

I hope that moving forward in life, I am always able to make it happen and be dedicate to the tasks that are put in front of me.  Although, I love been needed, and depended upon I am wise enough to know that I am human and it is ok to ask for the help of others.

So, in being the title of Mrs. Make It Happen, I am wise enough to know that I can do great by myself but I am beautifully and wonderfully made with the presence of others in my life.

Take a chance on something new!

Well, today was "Therapy Thursday"! As I love expanding my mental health so much. So, I discussed the run of the mill stuff that I do. Then, I briefly I started to talk about this gentlemen that I have been dealing with recently.

This particular gentlemen is not the typical guy that I would date. However, there are a lot of things about him I like. He has great conversation and an excellent communicator! He is sensitive and a good listener as well. I enjoy the time we share. However, there are some "signs" to could be "red flags"!

For example, he has two kids by two different women. This is not a problem for me but the way he deals with them does generate problems. See, he has a daughter by one woman and does not see the daughter. Him and the mother can not communicate. Therefore, he does not see the child. He has stopped paying child support because she won't let him see the child.

On the other hand, the relationship he has with his son's mother is unclear. However, it appears that he has a better relationship with her. He will take the son and spend time with him, frequently.

Now, the reason why I am bother by all of this is because I have a daughter. Although, he is not my daughter's father and I don't know anything about the circumstances their relationship(s). I do know that because my daughter is girl, her father could care less about her existence. Men being so fixated on the sex of their child is stupid to me. Child are children, and they didn't ask to be here. Little girls need their father just as much, if not more...

Moving forward, as I spoke with my therapist. I discussed how I same resembles to my daughter's father. Things that were good and things that I didn't like... We didn't get into a deep conversation but I did ponder about whether or not I was going to continue to see him. I had kind of distanced myself from him because I didn't want history to repeat himself. Then again, I thought to myself he could be different.

So as I was driving down the road, I called him. He answered. The conversation was easy and free flowing. He kind of in a round about way said that he missed me, and vice versa. He asked why hasn't he heard from me, and I told him--space. As the conversation proceeded, he said you know what-- "You are like my daughter's mother"! I laughed, and said you remind me too much like my daughter's father, and honestly that's why I haven't been calling because I didn't want to get caught up with something I dealt with before. we talked about our past relationship issues for a while. I can honestly say that I was able to distinguish a difference. I felt a little more comfortable about dealing with him.

In closing, you may meet someone new that may remind you of someone from the past. However, they may not be that person that you thought you know. You may be able to take the girl part of the person from the past and have a future with someone new. Long story short... take a chance! You never know what you may discover!

Telling someone how you feel is never a bad thing!

I have so many friends, young & old, and I always notice that many of them have the same core issue. Many people are searching for love. Love is a BIG thing. When we don't have it, we are often lost and confused, and left unsure with where to go. However, when we have love there are no limits to where you can go.

Example, I look at my own family dynamics. My Grandmother was not raised by her Mother, for reasons is still unclear to me. Although, the relationship between my grandmother and I was wonderful. The relationship between her and my mother was horrible. They spent years bickering and arguing, not speaking to each... and being in competition among themselves. Now, from the part of their relationship that I saw... it was rarely positive unless they were shopping. However, they never really spent good quality time together. I rarely saw my grandmother hug my mother just for no reason. Now, this brings me to the present time. As a child growing up, my mother's love was more financial and material than emotional and physical. So growing up, I was always under the impression that love was monetary or in the form of a gift and/or present.

However, in my teenage years I was quick to learn that money and material things just didn't matter. When I was going through my rough times, my mother was almost always emotionally disconnected. I was so angry that my mother was never there for me. She always was too busy with her own problems. Later on in life, by developing my own path in life, examining my family dynamics, and trials and tribulations I learned a few key factors about my mother. First, off she spent most of her life being depressed. Second, she didn't handle relationships well. Third, she spent a lot of time hiding her pain and was a functioning alcoholic. Now, what does all this mean? It means that it probably wasn't that she didn't love me or doesn't want to love me but that she was fighting her own demons and didn't know how.

As a teenager, I found myself in many situations that could have probably been avoided, if I just had a mother's love. A warm sense of being. When I was about 16, my mother put me out of the house. Primarily because the alcohol spent most of the time occupying her mind. So she would have these violent fits of rage, and want to fight. She didn't want to be responsible for my younger sister, which was mainly the cause of many of our disagreements. So long story short because I wanted to be a normal teenager, go to the movies, hang with my friends, and go to the mall; I was punished by being thrown out of the house.
Where did I end up? On the streets, associating with shady characters and doing things that were just not cool.

One day in my troubled teenage days, I went to visit a friend. I will remember this day for the rest of my life. I thought I was just going to say hey to my homie but I found something else there that day. I walked in the house and to my surprise her mother was there. She was standing in the living room, and didn't say one word to me. What she did next astonished me. She opened her arms and gave me the biggest hug. I cried. I had been through so much, and was so confused about being alone and on the streets. I was so thankful that this almost stranger at this point, felt I was important enough to show her affection.

From that day on, I ended up staying with her for quite a while. I spent months living with her and learning about love through her actions. Now, it was so funny what life teaches you. I was always under the impression that love comes from the wallet but at this stage in my life I have finally learned what love means and that love it comes from the heart. This woman became very instrumental in my life, to the point where I called her momma and she treated me as her daughter.

A few year ago, she passed away. Again, it is funny where life takes you. At the one point in my adult life where I was able to have a positive relationship with my mother, my momma was dying. I was devastated! I lost one of the only people in my life who loved me. Someone who was unafraid to say it or show it! Her legacy was the fact that she loved me for who I was, good or bad. If I was imperfect for a day, a week, a month, or even a year... it was alright in her book. I am so thankful for that, I would not be the woman I am today if I didn't have someone to show me the true meaning of love.

Now, that I am of age and a parent of my own. I am so grateful to have learned the lessons of love. Through my experiences, I am able to teach me daughter how to love. Showing love and receiving love are powerful things. I love my daughter for who she is. Although, she is a WONDERFUL child and I would love to give her the world. I give her the gift of love. Love is one of the things you can always keep.

Six years after my daughter's birth, I can't stand her father. However, if she ever asked I will tell her that she was conceived out of love. When her father and I were making her, we were very much in love. I loved him from my head through to my toes. It is so important for her to know that because almost seven years later, we can't stand each other. However, truth be told there are many things I still love about him. If he wasn't such an ass, I would have tried to make it work. However, our relationship was not going to be conducive to my future.

In closing, it is ok to tell someone you love them. When you share your feeling for a person, not only are you allowing yourself to be vulnerable but you are making someone else feel good, too! I tell my friends all the time, I love you! At first many are taken off guard, not because I said it but because they don't hear it. The world is such a cold place. So tell someone you love them, express your feelings. I tell people all the time that I love them. This is a way of letting them know I value their friendship, and I care. Have you told someone that you loved them, today?

Peace & Blessings...

Soulja Boy... you!!!

Ok, so I am back to my blog. I was reading about Soulja Boy being robbed over the holiday and I was in shock. Now let me pause for a moment-- I usually don't give issues like this my attention because after I am a starving artist and celebrity gossip isn't productive. However, when I saw that not only was he robbed but the people who robbed him had the audacity to make a YouTube video about the robbery. I must say, today we live in a world of America's Most Dumbest Criminals. How bold are you to rob someone, boast about it, and make a video? I guess no one every told these idiots about an IP address. Well, for those of you who don't know... An IP address logs where the Internet connection is coming from.

BTW, check out this article... http://www.rap-up.com/2009/01/03/soulja-boy-robbed-at-gunpoint-at-home/

So long story short, hopefully the dumb asses who robbed Soulja Boy are caught fast! Otherwise, there will be a string of criminals who feel it is ok to commit crimes and put it online.

Election Day Jetters!!!

As I read through the volume of e-mails this morning regarding the election, I figured, NOW, it was a good time to share my thoughts!

So much emphasis is on who to vote for and why? I am so glad to be apart of one of the most historical events of my lifetime! Flashback, seven years ago-- I can remember sitting home on the couch crying about how the world was coming to an end and how things were so bad. A few weeks before September 11th my grandmother passed away, I remember my thoughts were I am so glad that she didn't have to see this, "Boy, she would have really flipped". On another note, I was home pregnant thinking about what opportunities will my daughter have in the world with all the chaos that is going on.?

Fast forward eight years, the job market is unstable. Unemployment rates are at an all time high. People are losing their homes and minds as well. So with this election (hopefully), the general public will vote for someone that can turn around this confusion! I hope that everyone who is informed and qualified to vote WILL do so...

As an African-American Jersey girl, everything seems to be MY RIGHT! However, as I learned quickly-- I have NO damn rights, except to VOTE. When it comes to driving it's a privilege, and boy I am happy to have that privilege. But voting, is my right! I think about all the horror stories my grandparents and elder relatives have shared about their civil rights and liberties. I am so amazed with how optimistic they are about this election. It tickles me to hear them say, "I never thought that there was a possibility of an African-American president". I was talking to my grandfather the other night, and he said, "with the stuff I seen in my lifetime I never thought I'd see this". Now, for anyone who knows how much I love my Pops, this was really amazing to me! I couldn't imagine! Pops is Seventy-Something! (I have omitted his true age because he will read this, I don't want the backlash. LOL). He has been to the army, at a time when African Americans were not favored to be there, he has lived through a few riots and many wars. He lived through a time when there were colored-only fountains... and to him the idea that an African-American man would actually run for President is beyond belief.

I have been referring back to history, and what I was taught vs. what I learned, and now it all seems valid. Meaning, over 45 years ago, MLK, made the I have a dream speech. I could never imagine that the dream ever being true until, now! For the first time in my life, I am proud to be an American and take my stake in the American dream. I can remember my trip to the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, and all the wonderful things that I learned about being African-American and what my people have endured. If anyone has ever been there, then you know it starts with the beginning of civilization, moves through slavery, and ends with Room 306. And at the end of my visit it was like the horrible end to a GREAT movie! Here I stood in the same place where Martin Luther King was shot. At the time of my visit (which was a number of years ago), there weren't any prolific African-American leaders. So, my thoughts were that Martin Luther King's dream died along with him.

Fast forward 45 years, and so many other GREAT accomplishments for African-Americans. As I write to many of you, please look at the very blessings you have obtained through the struggles of our ancestors, white & black, of the past. Many of you are homeowners, self-employed, or have jobs that calibrate your lifestyle way above poverty. This would not be possible it is wasn't for people taking a stand a seeking a common goal.

In closing, many people ask am I voting for Barack Obama because he is Black. Well, the short version is NO. Although, there are many that will and many that won't. I have sat back and listen to both sides of the issues and made my decision as to who represented my views and beliefs the best. I WILL be voting for Barack Obama, and him being African-American isn't too bad, either. So for all of those people out there, who think their vote doesn't count, the lines are too long or they don't want to vote for Obama for his safety. Please think about what the next (8) years will be like with Bush in a third term. I don't know about you, but it breaks my heart pull up to every stop light and there is a sign of desperation from our fellow Americans, black, white, hispanic with signs looking for help. It is heartbreaking to see people without hope!

So if you haven't already... vote Barack Obama for President!

I am on my way to the polls, with my clan (Jayla, Jeremy, & Jaden)... will I see you there?

Be blessed & I love all of you!

A handy tip today...

I was having a fabulous day at my daughter's end of the school year picnic. As I was speaking with another parent, I came across a thought... in this day and ago of the information super highway and a great deal of technology we are so co-dependent on our cell phones.

If you are anything like me... then you experience a cell phone deficiency sometime during the day. I am constantly on my phone.... so therefore, my phone experiences a blackout period for a while during the day. Considering anything can happen, being without a cell phone is the worst predicament that you can be in...

Prime example last week I was involved in a minor fender bender with a bunch of idiots. Just as they hit my car, I was on the phone with zero juice left. With my luck I was able to call 911 but the operator was asking too many questions and the phone died. Luckily, I was near a public pay phone. However, what would I have done if I wasn't and needed to contact emergency services.

So my tip of the day is: Try to keep a cell phone that is not in service, even a pre-paid one, in the glove compartment in your car so this way you can contact emergency services if you need it.

Case of the Ex's...

So today ended with an ironic twist.... I was at my neighborhood Kinko's and these two women walk in... I was looking at then like OK there are here to handle some type of business. Then one asked me if I worked there, which is usually a question I get asked often. Why, I have no idea? However, since I am such a friendly person I said no but perhaps I can help you.

So I sat down with the women and began to chat with them... One of the women was eager to take me up on my offer. I then began to ask her what did she needed. She was there to apply for a new position with her job. Since, I am very computer savvy I had no problem helping her with her task.

As I was looking at her information, a flash from the past hit me. I asked her with the quickness did she know a person that I once knew and was very fond of... It is strange the way things pan out. It turns out that the person I knew was her son. I was so excited because her son and I dated almost 10 years ago, prior to my daughter's father and I becoming a couple.

Although, we have not seen each other in seven years and our lives have very much changed. Over the years, I still thought of him. I was ecstatic to have some form of connect with him. His mother informed me that he is back in his native land of Brooklyn and he is doing good. I can't wait to get in touch with him again.

Most people say it is best to leave the past the past... and to a certain extent I agree. However, when a person treats you a certain way... you can not help but to think of what might have been.

I began to think of how this person and I gelled so well, and how fucked up the relationship with my daughter's father turned out. I thought of how many times things went wrong with my daughter's father and how thing might have turned out with this person.

So moving forward, I hope that if there is anything like a so called fate out there... that this person and I can hopefully reconnect.

So my question to you is... do you ever think of someone and what might have been? Do you think of how being with someone can make you feel so good but the timing may not have been right? Do you think that you can move forward with a person and things can be almost perfect... let me know.... because not only can't I sleep... I can't wait to hear from this special person!

Looks like Shaniqua may have to get a real job...

As promised, I am back to discuss the 50 Cent drama... I wasn't quite sure how it was going to pan out but it seems as if things did not go in either of their favor, today.

According to published reports, NEW YORK (Reuters) - A New York judge on Tuesday ordered U.S. rapper 50 Cent not to sell the property where a fire destroyed his $2.4 million home and where his ex-girlfriend lived with their son.

State Supreme Court Justice Carol Edmead also ordered the woman, Shaniqua Tompkins, to pay the rapper $4,500 in rent by Friday for staying in the house during its final month, lawyers for both sides said.

Tompkins sued 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, for half of his estate based on an oral agreement the two made early in their decade-long relationship, said Tompkins' lawyer, Paul Catsandonis.

Tompkins was living in the Long Island home with their 10-year-old son until a fire broke out in the early hours of May 30. Police said they were investigating the fire as suspicious.

Tompkins escaped through a window and six people, including children, were treated for smoke inhalation, Catsandonis said.

"I think it speaks volumes about Mr. Jackson" that he would compel Tompkins to pay the rent, Catsandonis said, calling it an "undue hardship."

But 50 Cent's lawyer, Brett Kimmel, said Tompkins has repeatedly ignored court orders to pay the rapper, and that paying rent was a condition of her continuing to live in the house.

"My client is not the one who started a lawsuit for $50 million," Kimmel said.

The two are due back in court on July 15.

Since his debut album in 2003, 50 Cent has built a business with a record label, a clothing and footwear line, ringtones and video games. He has also starred in a movie based on his life, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'."

So with all that being said, sometimes it is best to leave well enough alone. It seems as if we would have never knew anything about Shaniqua Tompkins had she never tried to pull the infamous Kim Porter move and try to up the child support. It seems to me that this chick is just plain greedy, I mean how many of us have baby daddies who are worth anything let alone over 100 million plus. Realistically, what was she going to spend the money on... as they say inquiring minds want to know?

This whole story is sad because it really paints 50 Cent as the bad guy but Ms. Tompkins seems like a real dummy. And I do realize she was his choice of female prior to getting money and in the game but damn she is really hood! I checked out TMZ today, and she was really out her mind. Her lawyer basically should have told her to keep it quite.

To end this... I guess I'll pick this issue up on July 15th, or some time sooner depending on the level of drama that accompany this one...

What the hell will people do for excitement...

I am the type of gal that like to go to the club or perhaps visit a new city. However, most of the time I keep my adventures PG-13. But as I am learning more and more about the world, everyone doesn't keep it as quiet and calm as I do.

Let me explain... As I was in my slumber last night, my phone was ringing at 4 a.m. Of course, I was sleep and had no intention on answering it. When I woke to start my day around 8, I called the person back and asked them what the hell was so important. I didn't know that it was going to be more gossip from the hood-net. It seems to be that my ex-boyfriend/baby daddy's girlfriend is even more disgusting then I once thought. I used to just think she was the neighborhood tramp (a.k.a Jumpoff) that he decided to make his main squeeze but I have a new found level of disgust for her... seems as if she is a amateur porn star. Now some many say that I am hating... but she is welcome to do whatever she chooses... whether it is a porn star or not. However, my issue is that my child visits her father and it is hard for me not to wonder what type of influence she has on my child... especially when this is not the type of women that I myself would associate with...

So anyway, let's skip all of those hairy details because I can go back and forth all day long... Getting back to the real question... what would you do for excitement or just to put yourself out there... think about it and let me know.

Have you ever dealt with a person knowing they didn't do it for you?

Have you ever dealt with a person knowing they didn't do it for you?

Seems as if relationships aren't cracked up to what they used to be... It used to be a time that you met a person, things might not have been perfect but then you were able to work it out.

But in this day and age, people have so many choices... why stick with someone that doesn't do it for you?

I guess this is fresh on my mind because I have dated some one in the past who was not the type of person I would normally entertain relationship wise. I usually date a certain type of guy. This particular guy I wasn't attracted to physically at all. Sexually, we weren't a match either. However, there were perks to our relationship such as we had fun together, he treated me nice and he was a gentlemen 98% of the time. However, I could never see myself with this person. So as many times, as I would like to call it quites... the benefits that were associated with our acquaintance kind of outweighed the drawbacks.

So as I am writing this I am starting to think of other relationships, and how there are different ways of dealing with a person knowing they did not do it for me.

Another prime example, was the relationship I had with my child's father. This relationship started as most do... in the heat of the Summer. They say there is nothing like Summer love. It seemed like something that I might have wanted to pursue long term except for a few things. Problem number one... was he could not understand or tolerate shall I say that I was smarter than him. It wasn't my fault, that was how the cards panned out... what was I suppose to do, play stupid. I mean we grew up in two different places, I am from Jersey (13 miles South of Manhattan to be exact) and he is from Baltimore, where there is seriously something in the water. So anyway, we had a lot of ups and downs, a lot of good times and bad times, but I noticed a pattern was consuming our relationship. We kept beefing over his mother, a subject matter that would plague our acquaintance for years to come. It took me a while to realize that my daughter's father was a Mama's boy. Every breath he took, he had to ask Mama before doing so... even to this day she still is the one that pulls his strings. I mean don't get me wrong, who would not want a man that loves his Mama. But I do feel that if a man is going to be in a relationship, his mother must know her role, and running my household ain't it.

So after years of trying to figure out what went wrong, I came to this conclusion: When in a relationship, make sure you and the other person have an understanding that it is just the two of you, not the two of you and a third-party. Otherwise, you will never be on the same page. The second thing, I got from this relationship is: If Mama is pulling the strings, it is best not to deal with this type of man, especially if your have an in control attitude yourself... it will only lead to unnecessary stress. The third thing, I got from this relationship is: It's not ok not to be happy, if you are not happy in a relationship... the exit is the best place to head to... because chances are it will just get worse.

So, getting back to the original question: have you ever dealt with someone that didn't do it for you?

50 Cent's Long Island Mansion burns down, your thoughts?

Ok, So I have made the decision that this blog would be about a variety of things. However, today I really want to talk about last week's news....

50 Cent's Long Island Mansion burns down

In published reports, Superstar rapper 50 Cent's mansion burned to the ground Friday - and his enraged ex-girlfriend, who was living in the house with their son, accused the entertainer of torching the $2.4 million Long Island home.

Shaniqua Tompkins and two of her children, including the rapper's 10-year-old son, Marquise, were among six people who fled the early morning Dix Hills blaze.

"He tried to kill me and his own child," Tompkins claimed, as she stood screaming outside the decimated mansion hours after the inferno. 50 Cent's reps refused to respond to her allegations.

Citing the intensity and "sheer volume of the fire," Dix Hills Fire Chief Larry Feld called the blaze "highly suspicious." He said the fire ignited on the first floor.

Arson investigators were seen taking away a 5-gallon gas container found on the edge of the sprawling property off Deer Park Road. No arrests were made.

Tompkins said the blaze erupted just before 5 a.m. and was the result of a "firebomb."

Court records show 50 Cent, the registered owner of the two-story house, had been trying to get Tompkins evicted.

She alleged Friday that the rapper, born Curtis Jackson, threatened her just days ago during a deposition in her lawyer's Tribeca office.

"He threatened me on Monday. He said, 'Watch what I'll do. I'll have someone come kill you,' " said Tompkins, who has filed a Manhattan Supreme Court suit claiming she's entitled to half of 50 Cent's fortune and the house that's now in ruins.

In her suit, Tompkins claimed the rapper promised to give her the house 12 years ago and a judge stayed the eviction until the facts were litigated. "That's a moot point now," said Tompkins' lawyer Paul Catsandonis.

50 Cent, who was filming a movie in Louisiana Friday, released a statement saying he "is extremely thankful that everyone including his son, Marquise, escaped the burning house safely."

His lawyer, Brett Kimmel, said, "I'm shocked about this," adding that "it would be inappropriate" for him to say more about the incident or Tompkins' allegations.

Authorities said Tompkins, her children, her boyfriend's two kids and a nanny were treated for smoke inhalation at Huntington Hospital and later released.

Off-duty Suffolk cop Douglas Bose helped them escape. Bose said he was driving home when he saw the flames. He rushed to the rescue of two adults and four children crawling from a side window, helping them down from a 12-foot-high roof.

Catsandonis confirmed his office was trashed Monday when Tompkins' boyfriend and two of his pals got into a fight with 50 Cent's bodyguard. The brawl spilled onto Broadway. The celebrity Web site TMZ posted a video showing 50 Cent and Tompkins screaming outside

Catsandonis' office and friends pulling him to an SUV.

"The timing of all this is very disturbing," Catsandonis said of the fire.

Having read, many different stories in relation to this matter I am not so puzzled as most would be. I mean the house did belong to 50 Cent on one hand, so he can do whatever he chooses to as far as evicting her from the house. But damn how cold is that... It seems obvious that he bought the home for her and the kid. However, I did read somewhere that she moved her new boyfriend in... now that ain't cool. I don't care if my ex was paying on a one room shack ain't no way I would be moving my next man in, sorry! She just doesn't seem like the sharpest knife in the draw... If I am following the story right, he was voluntarily paying her 25, 000 per month in child support and she got to live in the house. However for some reason she didn't feel that was god enough, so she took him to Court for more money... Sidebar: I just want to know what the hell she was going to do with more money. Anyway, the judge reduced her payments to $6,700.00 per month still not too shabby but damn 80,000 per year tax-free I'll take that and at that point she got to keep the house. But she made the ultimate dummy move and moved her new man in, who probably doesn't have job the first.

It was a tragedy that the house caught on fire, and I am glad everyone made it out but damn this sure is a mess.
